The Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (IATCCC) announced the 2026 inductees for the Indiana Track & Field Hall of Fame. Among them is the 1973 relay team from White’s Institute in Wabash, Indiana.
The 4X440 relay team included Coach Charles Gaither and athletes John Maggott (‘73), James Brasher (’74), Nike McDonald (’73) and Elix Brewer (’73). With a time of 3:22.2, the relay team won the 1973 Huntington Sectional Team Championship.
Gaither wrote about his time coaching the student-athletes in his 2021 book, “Miracle at the Tute,” in which he recounts his rise from being a star high school athlete to becoming a championship-winning coach.

- Sarah Pease, South Central High School (Elizabeth, IN) – Class of 2006
- Julie Alano, Waldon High School – Class of 1994
Hall of Fame ceremony activities will include a free pre-banquet reception at 1 p.m. June 20, 2026, at the Indiana Track and Field Museum, 5353 E. Margaret Drive, Terre Haute. The induction ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. at the Idle Creek Golf Course Banquet Facilities, 5353 Eldridge Road, Terre Haute. Tickets are $40.
