The National Weather Service says much of Indiana experienced the coolest July in more than a century.
South Bend and Fort Wayne both recorded their lowest average monthly temperatures for July since official record keeping started there during the 1890s. South Bend had an average temperature of 68.3 degrees, while Fort Wayne averaged 68.9 degrees.
The average temperature in Indianapolis of 70.9 degrees was the second coolest on record, just 0.3 degrees warmer than the July of 1947. The July temperature in Indianapolis was 2.5 degrees lower than June.
Bloomington’s July average of 69 degrees was 6.4 degrees cooler than normal.
