Sitting right in the midst of downtown Indianapolis is a restaurant waiting to be discovered, Ah Barista Café.
I just happened to stumble upon this restaurant by accident and I’m ecstatic I did.
The little establishment is tucked inside the Pan-Am Plaza and is an excellent place to eat with a friend. The eatery is the picture perfect coffee shop with different food options such as cookies, drinks and chips.
Every week there are different specials at a reasonable price to choose as well. Customers can dine inside Ah Barista Café and eat at the miniature tables and chairs, or if the weather is fitting, eat outside on the patio.
The menu is positioned upon the wall to make your decision easier. I selected one of their hot Panini sandwiches; a turkey bacon cheddar Dijon wrap. The sandwich includes oven-roasted turkey; bacon, house Dijon sauce, cheddar cheese, romaine lettuce and all ingredients are wrapped up in a fresh tortilla ($6.95). I chose original sun ships as my side option, and a jolly rancher cherry drink to quench my thirst.
The sandwich was a delightful treat, the richness of the Dijon sauce poured out with every bite. You could taste the oven freshness of the turkey and bacon throughout the entire meal as well.
The lunch crowd has many options to choose from. I suggest you try the chicken teriyaki twister, a grilled chicken breast, provolone cheese, onion and special house teriyaki sauce grilled on a Bavarian pretzel bun ($6.95). Or the pastrami egg stacker, a pastrami egg salad, lettuce, tomato and house Dijon sauce all stacked high on marble rye bread ($6.95).
Or liven up your day with one of their salads. Their grilled raspberry chicken salad sounds promising with fresh spring mix lettuce, grilled chicken, toasted almonds, raisin,s Parmesan cheese, croutons and a side of raspberry vinaigrette dressing ($4.95).
Ah Barista Café not only serves lunch, but it also serves breakfast. The breakfast crowd has a variety of options. The croissant sounds tempting with bacon, ham or sausage, fluffy scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese all on a warm biscuit ($2.75). Or start your day off with the infamous homemade sausage gravy over warm buttermilk biscuits ($3.50).
Ah Barista Café offers soups, coffee, desserts and iced drinks. With their breakfast and lunch combinations “you can have your cake and eat it too.”
