Special to the Recorder
The Indiana Artisan program is looking for volunteers for the inaugural Indiana Artisan Marketplace on April 16-17 at Exposition Hall at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
In addition to enjoying the art and meeting artists, volunteers may help with hospitality, ticket sales, booth sitting, entertainment and other tasks.
Volunteers at least 16-years-old are needed and will attend a one-hour training session in advance. They are asked to work a minimum of three hours and may choose to volunteer during the morning, afternoon or evening. All volunteers receive free parking, free admission to the show and a T-shirt.
Indiana Artisan Marketplace will feature about 100 artisans from Indiana and an additional 70 artisans from Kentucky who will showcase art and food selected as being among the best in Indiana and Kentucky.
Indiana artisan and Kentucky crafted food and art jury panels select each artisan, which include painters, beekeepers, woodworkers, winemakers, jewelry designers, weavers, makers of specialty cheeses and more.
In addition to browsing the booths, visitors will enjoy Indiana music, literary readings, live art and craft demonstrations, and food and drink tasting.
Admission is $8, parking is $3 and children 15 and under are free.
