25th celebration of diversity at Castleton Festival 2011, the Indianapolis Public Schools’ 25th annual celebration of diversity, will be May 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Castleton Square Mall.
This year’s theme is “Celebrating and Honoring Cultural Diversity.”
Cultural organizations, community agencies, school districts, universities and individuals who value and embrace diversity will participate in this annual cultural extravaganza. Student performances highlighting ethnic music, dance, theater, storytelling, plays, song and poetry will also be featured.

Conner Prairie’s Mother’s Day plant sale If you’re looking for a Mother’s Day gift for the mom with the green thumb, Conner Prairie Interactive History Park has what you need.
With plants ranging from Mortgage Lifter tomatoes to Mexican Single Tuberose, it would be hard not to find a gift for mom at the park’s Mother’s Day plant sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 7 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 8. Shoppers will find varieties of plants, herbs and tomatoes not commonly found in national chain stores. Prices range from $2-5.
Along with the plant sale, guests are invited to explore Prairietown, Lenape Camp and the Conner Barn, where guests can have up-close interactions with the baby animals and their mothers.
āArts Alive’ at Ben Davis On May 7 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the halls and performance spaces of Ben Davis High School will be filled with the sights and sounds of the “Arts Alive Festival,” a community-wide celebration of the visual and performing arts created by the students of the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township.
In an energetic atmosphere filled with performances, food, special events, and artistic displays the parents, students and community members will gather to celebrate the 14th biennial festival of creative expression.
Visitors are encouraged to come early and enjoy choirs, instrumental ensembles, and theatrical groups that will perform throughout the day.
āHello Dolly’ at Carmel High More than 100 students are involved in the production of “Hello Dolly,” which opens at 7:30 p.m. at Carmel High School on May 5 and runs through May 8 in the Dale E. Graham Auditorium.
“Hello, Dolly” is a musical comedy set at the turn of the 20th century about a matchmaker who goes to New York City to ply her trade, but ends up trying to match herself in the process.

Herron School of Art and Design exhibit Herron School of Art and Design’s 2011 M.F.A. Exhibition requires the space of all five galleries in Eskenazi Hall to highlight the achievements of the school’s third graduating class of master of fine arts candidates.
The show opens at 5 p.m. in the Berkshire, Reese, Paul, Marsh and Basie galleries and runs through 8 p.m. on May 5, continuing through May 26.
Along with the M.F.A. Exhibition, there will be shows of senior works from the visual communication design and photography programs, a print and ceramics sale, open studios, music and refreshments.
