We all know that maintaining healthy teeth should be a priority. After all, no one has ever said they look forward to having a root canal, getting a cavity filled or waiting for a tooth to be pulled.
Unfortunately, baked sugary treats, which are not friendly to teeth, are a major temptation for many people. Which is why I was lured to Pat-a-Cakes and Cookies Too while driving through Fishers recently. Not wanting to go all the way to the Westside bakery I normally visit, I decided to give this place a try.
Located in a nice, family-oriented shopping center, Pat-A-Cakes and Cookies Too is like a wonderland of baked desserts. Upon walking in you will quickly notice examples of fine, custom multi-layer cakes with a variety of designs.
The bakery provides cakes for any occasions and can be decorated and designed to fit your purpose. Customers can order cakes with white, chocolate or cream cheese icing with a wide range of cake flavors, from the traditional white, yellow and chocolate, to carrot, red velvet and strawberry.
Fillings come in flavors such as the popular raspberry, cherry and lemon, to more adventuresome choices such as pineapple, apricot or chocolate cream. Various sizes are available, from a quarter sheet to full multi-tier cakes. Price depends on size ordered.
However, with no special occasions coming up worthy of a fancy cake, I decided to see if there was anything a little more compact (and affordable).
If you just need a little something to make your day sweeter, Pat-a-Cakes and Cookies Too has Cup-a-Cakes (cupcakes), dessert cakes, pies, bon-bons, decorated butter cookies and 14 different flavors of cookies and brownies.
I must warn you; when youāre actually standing in front of all these things it can be quite overwhelming to decide what to get.
However, the young lady who took my order was very helpful, had a good sense of humor and gladly answered my questions. Her positive attitude made the visit a fun experience. Itās always nice encountering people who are happy to have your business, or at least rise to the occasion and act like it.
After careful consideration, I ended up choosing three cookies, including a double chocolate, a white chocolate macadamia nut and an M&M chip, along with a large decorated yellow sugar cookie with a big smiley face on it.
Iām not exaggerating at all when I say that the taste was like homemade and completely satisfying. If the cookies are this good, I can only imagine how the cakes taste.
Overall, prices for the items are reasonable and seem compatible with most bakeries, with iced cupcakes available for anywhere between 89 cents and $1.60, cookies at $1.10 ($1.95 decorated, or $12.99 for bakers dozen), and single layer cakes (that serve six to eight people) at $11.99.
Between the service and the taste, Pat-a-Cakes and Cookies Too is definitely worth a visit if you are ever in the Fishers area.
