Knox Indy Pro Am, in conjunction with Planting Dreams Foundation, will host its inaugural high school student-athlete leadership summit for boys grades eight through 12 on Friday, July 29 at the Jonathan Byrd Fieldhouse, 200 E. 188th Street, Westfield, IN.
The Planting Dreams Leadership Summit will feature current and retired professional basketball players sharing advice and experiences that will “aid student-athletes and their parents throughout high school and college as well as professional athletics for some,” according to a press release.
The one-day informational conference includes panel discussions and Q & A sessions with professional ball players, parents of professional players, and a basketball skills clinic with Knox Indy Pro Am staff and athletes.
Special guests include Glenn Robinson III, Myles Turner, Bonzi Wells, Carlos Knox, and Gary, Sr. and Joy Harris, parents of pro player Gary Harris. Indiana Pacers Head Coach Nate McMillan will serve as Keynote Speaker.
“This will be an exciting and informative day,” said Carlos Knox, founder of the Knox Indy Pro Am summer basketball league. “As a student-athlete and now a parent of student-athletes, I wish something like this would have been available to my family and me. The opportunity to learn directly from those who have traveled the path before you is invaluable.”
The Planting Dreams Foundation (PDF) has partnered with Knox Indy Pro Am, LLC to present the inaugural high school student-athlete summit.
“I had dreams of playing professional sports as a high school kid growing up in Dayton, OH,” share PDF Founder and CEO, Clarence Abernathy. “After an injury ended my collegiate career, I quickly realized that the success I dreamed of would come through academics. I believe in supporting young people’s pursuit of their dreams while at the same time making sure they understand the practical life skills they must master to attain that dream.”
