Church to host financial health conference

More by this author

More than 500 church, community and corporate leaders are expected to attend the second dfree Financial Freedom Movement regional conference June 2–3 at Eastern Star Church in Indianapolis. The Say Yes to the Next Level conference series challenges participants to take existing dfree tools and strategies to the next level of financial freedom and wellness. The regional conferences also are intended to bring new audiences to the dfree movement including entrepreneurs, millennials and women.

“People across the nation are benefiting from the dfree belief that if we manage our lives well then we will use money strategically to reach our life goals,” said dfree founder Rev. DeForest B. Soaries Jr., senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, New Jersey. “We’re not teaching money management. This is a journey. It is a process and it begins by the way we think about ourselves, the way we think about our money and the way we plan for our future.”

Say Yes to the Next Level launches Friday, June 2, with an Empowerment, Employment & Financial Resource Fair, followed by a concert featuring gospel artist/producer Fred Hammond.

“Economic empowerment changed my life,” said Hammond, who encourages people to stop relying upon credit and has called for financial education to be taught in urban public schools.

Expert advice, panel discussions, workshops and training will dominate dfree activity Saturday, June 3, when Soaries, The Money Coach Lynnette Khalfani-Cox, Eastern Star Church Senior Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson Sr., and Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church Pastor Darryl K. Webster offer keynote addresses. Khalfani-Cox, author of New York Times bestseller Zero Debt: The Ultimate Guide to Financial Freedom, will teach about credit scores and debt reduction as easily as a preschool instructor teaches about ABCs.

Conference tickets include conference and concert admission, a textbook and workbook, lunch and enrollment to the dfree Academy. Regular tickets are $25 and without-books tickets are $15. Special large-group and need-based discounts may be available by contacting info@mydfree.org. The church is located at 5750 E. 30th St., Indianapolis, IN 46218.
