Sister Soldier Network, a military women’s organization that celebrates and honors all women veterans is hosting 6th Annual Military Minority Veteran Appreciation Reception, 6 – 9 PM Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Sterrett Center on Ft. Harrison. The event will feature a color guard, local military and civilian speakers as well as a special tribute to honor fallen minority soldiers. In addition a photo gallery and selected military memorabilia of area minority veterans will be on exhibit.
Special recognition will be given this year to minority veterans who have served their country and, since discharge, have demonstrated exemplary leadership in serving the community. Keynote speaker will be retired Army Lt. Col. Earl S. Newsome III, Deputy Director of the Department of Veteran Affairs Center for Minority Veterans. He will provide an update about minority veterans today as well as address ways the Center for Minority Veterans can help with the challenges, opportunities and meeting the needs of minority veterans today.
Supported by the American Indian Center, the Latino community, the Asian Community and the African American community, Sister Soldier Network invites the public, veterans, military and military families to join this event 6 – 9 PM, Thursday, November 12, 2015.
