Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plan pavement repairs this weekend requiring closure of the westbound I-70 ramp to northbound I-465 on the city’s east side.
Weather permitting, crews will close the ramp beginning Friday, August 1 at 9 p.m. to remove and replace damaged pavement. Westbound I-70 access to southbound I-465 will remain open.
Dynamic message signs and detour route markers will direct traffic to continue west on I-70 to Shadeland Avenue (Exit 89) and return eastbound on I-70 to access northbound I-465. The ramp is expected to open by 6 a.m. on Monday, August 4.
These repairs are recurring and additional weekend ramp closures should be expected. Only one of the two ramps—northbound or southbound—will be closed at a time each weekend through August. Weather permitting, a ramp will close at 9 p.m. Friday and is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. the following Monday. Specific ramp closures will be updated weekly as crews progress with repairs.
Drivers are advised to practice safe habits, especially in highway work zones. Motorists are urged to always comply with speed limits, maintain safe distances from other vehicles and avoid all distractions. INDOT partners with the Indiana State Police to provide increased work zones patrols and promote public safety.
