Subscription boxes are the new hot buy

More by this author

There was once a time when consumers had to scour stores and websites to find products and items they believed were useful to them. Today’s fast-paced, “try before you buy” society has ushered in a new way to sample products — the subscription box.

From beauty products to snacks, consumers can get goods delivered to their doors daily, weekly or monthly.

Following are a few subscription service boxes that may have you thinking about purchasing items a little differently:

BarkBox

Bark & Co. is a New York-based provider of pet-themed products and technology known for its subscription service BarkBox, a monthly surprise of dog toys, treats and goodies.

Birchbox

Birchbox is a New York City-based online monthly subscription service that sends its subscribers a box of four to five selected samples of makeup or other beauty-related products.

BroBox

Each month, “bros” experience unique products made just for them with no commitment and with free shipping. Every box comes with “next level personal care stuff, snacks you probably never heard of, energy stuff that might get you hooked, new apps, games, tech and more.”

Club W

Club W is the best way to buy wine online. Discover your unique wine personality starting with three boutique bottles delivered for only $39.

Cocotique

These boxes are filled with five to eight sample-size and full-size haircare and skincare products from tried-and-true labels.

CurlBox

Loaded with five to seven sample- and full-size products from the likes of Ouidad, Carol’s Daughter, Pantene and more, this subscription box is a godsend to women whose local beauty supply store just isn’t up to par.

CurlKit

Women of color have turned to CurlKit since 2011 for guidance and inspiration on how to style, treat and maintain their tresses when overwhelmed by all of the options in stores.

Essence Beauty Box

Curated by Essence editors, consumers will find five products inside the box that span the hair, makeup, skincare and fragrance categories and feature at least one item from an indie-owned Black brand.

Faithbox

Faithbox is a monthly subscription box for Christians that sends meaningful reflections, scriptures and great products from companies with Christian ideals.

Graze

Here’s how it works: tell them the snacks you like, they hand pick a box for you and send it to your work or home.

Green Kids Crafts

What’s inside a Discovery Box? Award-winning themed boxes explore topics like ocean science, space, safari, volcanoes and music; Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) projects; and eco-friendly art projects.

Julep Maven

Get items like runway-inspired nail polish and innovative beauty products each month.

KLUTCHClub

A box from the KLUTCHClub is going to include everything a man needs in order to live a healthier lifestyle. They make it pretty easy to say yes, since you’re getting at least $50 worth of goods in each box and paying far less than that to subscribe. This is a way to be healthier and sample the best without shopping.

Onyx

Each month, subscribers receive four to six full- and deluxe-size makeup, skin and hair products by Lotta Body, Cantu Shea Butter and more brands.

Tea Sparrow

Every month, Tea Sparrow samples the world’s best teas to deliver the tastiest to your door.
