WHY: In an effort to help guests explore their creative sides, the Indiana Historical Society will turn the History Center into a giant art studio during #BigDrawIndy for two days while participating in interactive activities, including:
TEDxIndianapolis Leaf Activity: Guests will be able to create leaves and draw or write messages on them. The leaves will then be collected by the artistic duo, the Brain Twins, and Big Car to be used as part of the TEDxIndianapolis program āGet the Outside IN” on October 21.
Still Life and Interactive Drawing: Using objects from past exhibitions, participants will be able to create still life drawings. Additionally, guests will be able to create interactive drawings where they become part of the actual masterpiece.
Finish the Photo Activity: Presented with one half of a drawing of a portrait from the IHS collection, guests will be tasked with completing the piece or imagining a new half of the image.
Why I Love Indiana Ornaments: Guests will be given a custom Indiana ornament and encouraged to draw and write what makes them love the Hoosier state.
Community Mural: Participants will each be given a piece of paper to draw on and be applied to a gridded mural outlining the state of Indiana. These squares will be compiled throughout the program until the entire state-based mural is complete.
The event is free on Friday night and free on Saturday with an Indiana Experience admission. For more information about #BigDrawIndy or the Indiana Historical Society, call (317) 232- 1882 or visit IndianaHistory.org.
