Restore the republic

More by this author

The constitutional republic of the United States of America was founded on the inalienable rights to life, liberty and property. Self ownership guarantees man his sovereignty, the rights to property guarantees man the fruits of his own labor and full entitlement to his estate, and the right to liberty allows man to build upon his wealth and build upon himself, however he pleases, as long as there is no conflict with another patriot’s natural rights. The sole purpose of the federal government is to guarantee the protection of the American citizen’s freedom through fostering principled rule of law and by organizing a strong national defense on her homeland to deter any foreign aggressor.

The American republic as a peaceful nation does not engage in pre-emptive war nor perpetual war. America respects the sovereignty of other nations and does not entangle itself in foreign conflicts. The U.S. seeks eternal peace for her citizenry by abiding by the foreign policy principle of non-interventionism and only when America’s national security is threatened by an invader is a declaration of war declared by Congress, to quickly end the aggression of a rogue state.

At the present time, America does not resemble a constitutional republic. The military industrial complex has troops stationed in over 120 nations and the national security budget has surpassed $1.2 trillion. Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya are countries that pose no threat to this nation. Though, the financial cost of maintaining such a worldly presence certainty has impacted America’s prosperity, abetted the recession, and taken away freedoms from the citizen, through inane actions that have formed totalitarian manifestations like the Patriot Act, the guilty until proven innocent TSA, and a government eager to impose its will on the people.

How are we to restore the American republic? The American voter needs to elect principled leaders who will honor their constitutional oath. To regain sovereignty America should end all defense commitments to foreign nations. America should end all undeclared wars. Current immigration laws are to be enforced. The Patriot Act should be repealed. The United States government should end all corporate welfare. Americans should mend their pretentious judgment towards fellow citizens in need and show a renewed sense of love and altruism towards our poor, hungry and those suffering hardships. And there should be an ideological change among the people and political leaders about the role of the state.
