Overnight Closure at South Side I-65 Ramp to I-465

More by this author

Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plan to temporarily close the northbound I-65 ramp to eastbound I-465 on the city’s south side early Thursday morning.

Beginning at midnight, crews will close the ramp as crews remove an overhead sign box truss. The ramp is expected to reopen before 5 a.m.

During the overnight ramp closure, traffic will be directed westbound on I-465 to State Road 37/Harding Street (Exit 4) to return eastbound on I-465.

Walsh Construction Company, INDOT’s contractor for the $40 million Operation Indy Commute project, is currently constructing auxiliary lanes along I-65 to connect between the I-465 and Southport Road interchange ramps. Auxiliary lanes are also being constructed on I-465 between the I-65 and Emerson Avenue interchange ramps. A new two-lane flyover ramp from westbound I-465 to southbound I-65 is being constructed to replace the existing single-lane loop ramp.

Sherman Drive remains closed until approximately Sept. 1 as the bridge over I-465 is reconstructed and lengthened to accommodate widening I-465 below.
