Martindale Brightwood Community Development Corporation (MBCDC) will help assist those going into small business development in Indy by offering two sets of free workshops. One series will be offered through an alliance with the Small Business Association (SBA), and the other set of workshops is through the IndyEast Business Association. Last year, community partners, such as Fifth Third Bank, The Community Resurrection Partnership and Lake City Bank, came together and helped MBCDC forge the groundbreaking alliance with the SBA. Today, they offer relevant business workshops every third Thursday starting March 23 through Sept. 28 at 5:45ā7:30 p.m.Ā
This fall, MBCDC will host a Business Opportunity Fair on Oct. 19 to celebrate its 2017 workshop series. The IndyEast Business Association, presented by MBCDC and the Community Resurrection Partnership, are offering five free Lunch and Learn presentations starting May 2 at 11:30 a.m.ā1 p.m. Topics include state and federal small business certifications, micro lending and how to create a marketing plan.Ā
Founded in 1992, MBCDC, a not-for-profit organization, works to provide services that meet the unique challenges of residents living in the Martindale-Brightwood area. Since that time, MBCDC has expanded its services to eight surrounding Indiana counties, specifically to help residents with foreclosure prevention counseling, as well as small business development, environmental justice and youth employment.Ā
