‘Indy Fashion Time’

Indy Fashion Time will host a fashion show and fashion workshops on Saturday, June 5 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. The show and workshops will take place at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Farm Bureau Building. The show will begin at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the workshops are $15 for one class and $45 for two classes. Tickets for the fashion show are $25 for VIP and $15 general admission.

Who’s your hero?

Endless Affairs Event Planning and Specialty Services Co. will host the Third Annual Red Carpet Father’s Day Jazz Celebration and Awards Program. The program will take place at the Indianapolis Marriot East Hotel Grand Ballroom on Sunday, June 20 beginning with hors d’oeuvers and cocktails at 1:30 p.m. The dinner and program will run 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, and $13 for children ages 4-12. Children 3 years old and under are free.

Special guests will be Erica Edmonds, pastor Eric Wiggins and Gregg Bacon.

Free Concerts in June

Indy Parks and Recreation will host free concerts and movies throughout the entire month of June. The schedule will kick-off on June 2 with its’ first artist being Everett Green. The last concert will take place June 27 at Watkins Park with alternating jazz and blues bands. The concerts are free, but there is a $5 gate fee.

Help cure lupus

The Second Annual Indianapolis Walk With Us to Cure Lupus will be held 10 a.m., June 5 on IUPUI’s Michael A. Carroll Track, 902 W. New York St. Nearly 1.5 million Americans suffer from this autoimmune disease, and it is especially prevalent among African-American women. The Alliance for Lupus Research, which has given more money to lupus research than any non-government agency, is hosting the event. All proceeds go to research programs. Indiana Festival

Discover Indiana’s rich cultural heritage as you laugh, dance, stomp, sway and weave your way through this fun-filled weekend during Indiana Festival Saturday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday June 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Conner Prairie, 13400 Allisonville Rd. in Fishers, Ind.

Sample global tastes, sights and sounds from far-off destinations. Immerse yourself in the diverse and wonderful music, art, dances and ethnic foods that make us who we are today. Bring the kids along to meet Maya & Miguel from PBS (Sunday only) and enjoy the colorful display of artwork created for the Picture Indiana Youth Art Contest. Be part of the debut of the Indiana Humanities Council Food for Thought traveling exhibit.

Let’s Meet PBS KIDS in the Park

Join WFYI Public Broadcasting for its Let’s Meet PBS Kids in the Park family festival on Saturday, June 12, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in its new location — Military Park in White River State Park, 601 W. New York St. The new venue will offer families a greener, more spacious cultural setting to enjoy this one-of-a-kind free celebration.

Let’s Meet PBS Kids in the Park unites children and parents face to face with the cuddly and colorful characters that we all have come to love and admire most on PBS.

The celebration features an all-star entertainment lineup on three distinct stages, plus engaging activity booths, bounce houses, walk-around characters from your child’s favorite PBS Kids programs, a food court and much more.

This year’s entertainment headliners will include “Gordon” from Sesame Street; “Mr. Steve,” host of PBS Kids preschool destination; and Habla Blah Blah, a bilingual concert experience that will transport audiences on a magical safari adventure in search of animals big and small.
