Carolene Mays-Medley recovering after medical scare

Carolene Mays-Medley executive director of White River State Park suffered an aneurysm Tuesday morning at her home. Mays-Medley was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery.

Doctors say while she still has a way to go in her recovery, the businesswoman is incredibly blessed to have survived such an incident. Currently, Mays-Medley is recovering at a local hospital. Heath care personnel are optimistic that she will make a full recovery.

ā€œWe are grateful for all the prayers and calls of support our family has received this week,ā€ said Fred Medley, Mays-Medleyā€™s husband. ā€œOur family is God-centered and he continues to be our guiding light. Iā€™d personally like to thank everyone for their concern and respect for our familyā€™s privacy at this time. Please continue to lift Carolene up in your prayers.ā€

Mays-Medley was publisher of the Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper for 13 years before leaving in 2010 when then-Gov. Mitch Daniels appointed her to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. She also served in the Indiana House of Representatives from 2002 ā€“ 2008. Currently, she is executive director of White River State Park.
