‘Human Rites’ World Premiere

Don’t miss the world premiere of Seth Rozin’s play “Human Rites” at the Phoenix Theatre July 20. The production runs through Aug. 13 with Lavina Jadhwani as the director. The fiery play focuses on old drama being brought back to light when Michaela is dean of the university that Alan, a former lover, attends. Michaela challenges Alan on a paper he has written claiming the sexualization of Black women for personal gain. Ticket prices vary but start at $20. Naptown Dope Comedy Show

Laugh out loud at the Naptown Dope Comedy Show at Morty’s Comedy Joint on Sunday, July 16. Comedian Landon Jones will be headlining the show, and funny guys Drew Thomas from “Last Comic Standing” and Cazsell Williams from “ComicView” will be featured. Tickets start at $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show begins at 8 p.m.

Vans Warped Tour

Rock out at the 23rd year of the Vans Warped Tour at Klipsch Music Center on Thursday, July 20. Become a part of the festival that brings a bit of everything for everyone from hip-hop to rock. The tour not only brings music to audiences, but it also helps nonprofit organizations such as Teens With a Purpose, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), Donate Life New England, Planned Parenthood, Keep A Breast, Testicular Cancer Foundation and others. Don’t miss out on never-before-seen routines from Miss D and the Dancing Dolls at the Bring It! Live hip-hop majorette dance competition. The show takes place at the Old National Centre on July 20 and begins at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $36 and can be purchased at livenation.com. 

Jonny P. & Special Guest Chris Wilson

Come out for a night of soul music from Johnny P. and his guest Chris Wilson at the Fountain Square Brewery tasting room on July 20. Jonny P. believes in what soul music can bring to the 21st century, so join in to see what it’s all about. The show runs from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased on eventbrite.com.

Human Rights

Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis announces the World Premiere of Human Rites, which opens July 20, 2017 on the Frank and Katrina Basile Stage. Human Rites, the story of a professor whom has come back from Sierra Leone with some surprising research on black female sexuality, provides keen insight into academia and cultural divides. This production runs from July 20 through August 13, 2017. Tickets are $27.00 per person on Thursdays and Sundays, $33.00 per person on Fridays and Saturdays, and $20.00 for anyone 21 & under.
