INDIANAPOLIS – (February 18, 2010)– Regions Bank will be keeping the tradition of African-American storytelling alive in the Circle City when it partners with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis to coordinate a storytelling event Monday, Feb. 22. More than 50 school-age children are expected to take part in the special activity at the Club’s Wheeler-Dowe location (2310 E. 30th Street). Local storyteller Celestine Bloomfield will guide the activity dedicated to talking about the tradition of storytelling in the African-American community.

“Preserving and passing on what’s most valuable to us is what lies at the heart of storytelling,”

said Tom Freeman, Regions Bank Area President in Indianapolis. “We are incredibly proud to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis on this project as we fulfill our mission to Make Life Better for the communities we serve.”

Regions Bank is sponsoring this and other storytelling events across its 16-state footprint as part of its commitment to honoring Black History Month. In addition to providing storytellers for the events, Regions’ “History in Motion” campaign also includes providing Black History Month Fact Cards which highlight the achievements and contributions of African-Americans. At the Indianapolis event, the bank will also be distributing its Life Green piggy banks to each child to coincide with “America Saves” Week.
