More by this author

About 40 soldiers from an Indiana National Guard unit based at Camp Atterbury will leave Saturday for Fort Sill, Okla., for deployment to Iraq.

They are members of the Guard’s 238th Aviation Battalion air traffic system.

Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger says the troops will help control the airspace over Iraq and should return to the United States within a year.

A departure ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. EDT on Saturday at Camp Atterbury, about 25 miles south of Indianapolis.
