‘Girls Are Worth It!’ event

More by this author

The Women Like Us Foundation’s signature program, One Girl at a Time, realizes the importance of supporting teen girls in becoming women of clear direction and dedication to their families, communities, and themselves. This is why they are hosting “Girls Are Worth It!” April 5 at North Central High School Auditorium from noon to 5 p.m. Registration will begin at 11:30 AM on the day of the event.

The day’s events will include: a Professional dress fashion show; career development talks with a panel of local professional women; image and interview workshops for career and college preparation; healthy relationships seminar; a healthy lifestyle and positive body image workshop and more.

The facts speak for themselves. 81 percent of 10-year-old girls are afraid of being fat; a girl is bullied every 7 minutes on school property; 1 out of 4 college women will have an eating disorder; 1 out of 4 college women will be a victim of sexual violence; 1 in 5 high school girls say they do not know three adults whom they can trust. The statistics go on and on – these young girls need our support.

“Girls Are Worth It” is an interactive event that focuses on giving teen girls ages 15-18 resources and connections that are key to living successful lives. It is a relaxing day full of fun and empowering events, concentrating on creating personal and community awareness, and promoting career development.

This event is free and open to all high school aged girls in the Indianapolis area! Pre-registration is necessary. Contact Sharon McCarthy of North Central High School or Melissa Huber with the One Girl at a Time program to do so!
