At first glance, a restaurant with the name Just Pizza may not inspire much excitement. After all, it seems like you would know what to expect, and there are a zillion pizza joints in Indianapolis.
However, after recently driving past Just Pizza for the hundredth time, I listened to that inner voice all of us journalists have, a voice that tells us to explore and dig a little deeper.
Ladies and gentlemen, I have to say that I am glad I took the time to investigate Just Pizza, and you will be too.
Whenever trying a new pizza place, I usually go for traditional pepperoni and cheese as the topping, because it is hard for anyone to mess that up.
Just Pizza was satisfying in more than one way. Staff members are courteous, polite and professional. After placing my order and having a reasonable 10-15 minute wait, I had delicious pizza in my hands and could barely wait to get home to try it.
We live in a time when many restaurants are cutting back on toppings to save money, and some places are so stingy with the cheese you have to order extra in order to ensure you’re not eating cardboard with pizza sauce on it.
However, every bite of Just Pizza’s pie was absolutely great, and the place is generous with its toppings, with cheese everywhere and a nicely flavored crust. If you grew up eating great pizza somewhere, then Just Pizza might bring back fond memories for you.
Yes, the pizza was great, but here is the kicker: I ordered one pizza but walked out with two! No, I did not steal the second one (although after tasting the pizza who could blame me if I did?) All jokes aside, Just Pizza constantly has a “double deal” special where if you buy one pizza at regular price, you can get another for equal value free.
Yes, I did say the f-word, free.
People, let me be very clear by saying you will be hard pressed to find a better deal on pizza anywhere in Indianapolis than that. We’re talking about more food for the family, your friends during the game, your school, your church, etc.
Most customers appear to get their orders carryout, and contrary to its name, you can get more than just pizza. In fact, most of the items on the menu are non-pizza related selections ranging from different types of wings, sub sandwiches and nachos, to pasta and salads.
You have to actually see the variety on this menu in order to believe it.
As of this writing, I haven’t tried any of the other items yet, but will be returning to Just Pizza soon to do so. I encourage you to do as I did by following that inner voice your head to try Just Pizza. Your full stomach and your wallet/purse will thank you.
