I’m probably the only one who remembers, but during the early 1990s Jack’s Pizza had a fun commercial with the catchy chorus, “Who-are-you gonna’ call? Jack’s Pizza!”
That commercial is a distant memory now, but fortunately Jack’s is still around and stronger than ever after 46 years in business.
In recent years, the mass production of pizza by national pizza delivery chains has led to tactics that emphasize quantity over quality, and delivery style pizza has become more bland. Picking up really good pizza, however, can be a hassle if your favorite restaurant is no where near your home or place of employment.
Fortunately, Jack’s combines the convenience of delivery with the great, satisfying taste of classic pizza joints that were around when many of us were growing up.
Jack’s has all of the traditional styles of pizza on its menus. It also has several popular signature offerings, including the Big Jack, which is kind of like a fancy supreme pizza; the vegetarian Jack’s Rabbit, the meaty Jack’s Meat-eor and the Jackpot, which has everything from anchovies to pineapple.
What makes Jack’s pizza so special is that it has a nice, zesty flavor, which keeps it from tasting like cardboard with toppings.
Also, most places use a thin layer of cheese on their pizza then add a limited amount of toppings. Jack’s, on the other hand, places its toppings on the sauce first, then covers everything with a thick blanket of cheese, giving their pizzas more substance.
Some locations also provide sandwiches, strombolis, chicken wings, salads, garlic bread and various dessert items such as apple and cinnamon sticks.
Honestly, the prices for Jack’s are just a little higher than many of its competitors. However, you get more for your money, because a large pizza at Jack’s is 16 inches in diameter, when a large is usually 14 inches at other places.
If you are burned out on the bland sameness of delivery pizza, but miss the convenience of having it brought to your door, then Jack’s could be a refreshing choice. Once you try it, you’ll better understand the company’s new slogan, “Once you have Jack’s you won’t go back.”
