A jury has been seated for the trial of a second man charged in the killing of seven people, including three children, authorities in Indianapolis said.
A jury of six men and six women was chosen Monday for the first-degree murder trial of James Stewart, 33, The Indianapolis Star reported Tuesday.
Defense lawyer Richard Bucheri cautioned jurors about photographs of the shootings that would be presented as evidence. The images could be the “worst things you’ve ever seen in your life,” Bucheri said.
Stewart has pleaded innocent in the June 2006 killings of Emma Valdez, 46, and her partner, Alberto Covarrubias, 56; their two children; Valdez’s adult son and daughter; and Valdez’s 5-year-old grandson.
Last month, Desmond Turner, 31, was convicted of first-degree murder in the case and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
