Rescue Party on April 26 benefits endangered places

More by this author

Just like saving endangered species, saving endangered places takes money, as well as time and attention. On April 26 from 6 to 11 pm., the second Rescue Party at Indiana Landmarks Center benefits the organization’s Endangered Places program. Indiana Landmarks Center is a repurposed and restored church at 1201 Central Avenue.

The evening includes the announcement of the 10 Most Endangered in 2014, presentation of the annual Cook Cup for Outstanding Restoration, an Iron Chef-style cocktail competition, a custom Sun King beer, a rollicking live auction of one-of-a-kind experiences in historic places, an art show, dancing to the Impalas, and lavish hors d’oeuvres buffets and desserts.

For the cocktail competition, the Rescue Party audience will get to taste each competitor’s creation, and audience and judges scores will determine the winner. The event also features a custom Rescue Party beer blended by Sun King Brewing.

ā€œThe live auction features getaways in historic places, with special ā€˜can’t be bought’ additions, including tours of private sites not open to the public,ā€ said Doris Anne Sadler, chair of the event. ā€œYou may be too old to audition for American Idol, but you can bid to sing with The Impalas at the Rescue Party,ā€ she adds. The evening closes with dancing to The Impalas.

Tickets are $75 each ($125 for patrons). Dress is festive casual. For information, call Indiana Landmarks, (317) 639-4534 or visit IndianaLandmarks.org. You can register online at rescueparty2014.eventbrite.com.
