Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, Girl Scouts are having fun and learning financial literacy. Behind the scenes, girls are setting goals, making plans, and learning how to manage money. All of these skills will empower girls to become successful women. They are busy taking orders and will soon be delivering the cookies their customers have ordered.
This is just the first part of their journey through the Girl Scout Cookie Program. The troops will be setting up cookie booths all around their local area to make cookies available to everyone. Many troops participate in Operation: Cookie Drop, which allows customers to purchase packages of cookies to be delivered to active and retired military personnel throughout Central Indiana. Last year, more than 77,000 packages of cookies were delivered to Camp Atterbury and other military locations. This gives girls a great sense of giving back to their communities while also supporting the military.
Troop leaders will have an opportunity to follow up with girls about the skills they have learned. After the cookie program, girls will utilize the funds they have earned to participate in Girl Scout activities they had planned.
