Generation to Generation Conference

More by this author

Several nationally known speakers and performers are coming to Indianapolis for the Generation to Generation Conference at Scott United Methodist Church.

Participants include the Emmy Award winning author and AIDS activist Rea Lewis-Thornton; author and CEO/President of the Human Motivation Council Alfred “Coach” Powell; Christian Rap recording artist Brian “Mr. Real” Hill; and songwriter/recording artist Sheila Raye Charles, the daughter of the world renown Ray Charles. The purpose of this intergenerational conference is to build, renew, and restore relationships between the generations.

According to Rev. James C. Anyike, “One of the main reasons many of our churches and businesses are dying is because they have no relationship with younger people, and they don’t have any plans to.” Anyike is the Senior Pastor of Scott UMC and The Way, and a nationally known author of three books. “Our success as families, churches, businesses, and other institutions will be best realized when the generations can understand each other and work with each other,” said Anyike.

The Generation to Generation (or G2G) Conference will be held September 19-20, 2009 at Scott UMC, located at 2153 Dr. Andrew J. Brown Avenue. The event will include an opening plenary on “Generational Etiquette,” a Generations Luncheon, a Generation to Generation Award Dinner, an Intergenarational Worship Service, a variety of workshops, a Family Resource Center, and Vendors Market.

Other participants in the G2G Conference include Minister Henry Carter, Rev. Dr. Jaqueline Carroll, educator Clete Ladd, student leader Bria Carter, Rev. Joe Jackson and many others.

The Conference will be held on Saturday September 19th and Sunday the 20th. Since space is limited, those interested in attending should register as soon as possible.
