TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is the largest franchised moving company both in the U.S. and internationally with 306 national locations and 1,900 trucks. The company has been around since 1985 after two brothers, Brig and Jon Sorber, decided to use an old pickup truck to help people move items to new locations in the State of Michigan to make some extra money to prepare for college.
Their mother, Mary Ellen Sheets continued the business when the two brothers left for college, investing $350 into a 14-foot truck. Since then the company has expanded.
Not only is the company a moving service, but they also provide a service to the community. According to marketing manager, Scott Hodgin, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK has worked with various community events because they care about more than just making a check.
“We have a campaign called Movers for Moms, which collect donations for women every spring and deliver them to local women’s and family shelters on or before Mother’s Day. We also work with local shelters and schools as well as other community organizations,” said Hodgin.
The company also hosts a campaign called Movers for Meals, to help support local families facing hunger crisis around the country; Movers for Mutts, where they created a program to help local animal shelters, as well as Movers for Military, where they help out veterans who have served for our country and are in need of help.
Providing jobs in the city is also another way TWO MEN AND A TRUCK contributes to the community. Sara Bennett, director of human resources mentioned the company will be opening three new locations throughout Indiana.
“We are offering people a chance to begin a career. You will usually begin in the frontline but with success you are able to move up to management positions,” said Bennett. “More than half of our managers started on the frontline and have now all moved up. We allow a chance to become stable while securing a career in our company.”
With over 90 jobs soon to be offered, the company is allowing Hoosiers a chance to get started in a promising career.
