Managed Health Services (MHS), an Indiana-based health maintenance organization serving Hoosier Healthwise (HHW) and the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP), presents the Lil’ Gobbler’s Run as part of the annual Drumstick Dash hosted by Wheeler Mission Ministries.
The ninth annual Drumstick Dash kicks off Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, at 9 a.m. in Broad Ripple. A 4.5-mile run/walk through Broad Ripple Village, the Drumstick Dash is currently the third largest running event in the state, behind the Mini Marathon and the Race for the Cure.
A key component of the Drumstick Dash experience, especially for children and families, is the Lil’ Gobbler’s Run, a post-race run for children 12 and under. The event mascot will pose for pictures, and everyone will receive a goody bag and race medal. MHS is the sole sponsor for this event.
“Funds from the Drumstick Dash go straight to Wheeler Mission as they service the Indianapolis community through a variety of programs for the poor and homeless, and we are honored to help with that effort,” said MHS CEO Patrick Rooney. “At MHS, we focus on healthy living and wellness, and that certainly ties in to our sponsorship of the Lil’ Gobbler’s Run, which supports physical fitness in children.”
In addition, a Drumstick Dash Expo will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Broad Ripple High School for all participants and sponsors. MHS will be present at the Expo with a booth, educational materials and giveaways for attendees.
