āThe Lawrence community, our volunteers and our staff have been anxiously awaiting the opening of this pool for a long time,ā said Roger Corley, executive director of the Benjamin Harrison YMCA. āWe are grateful to all of our donors who have helped us with this project, which will be a highlight to the community for years to come.ā
The $2.6 million project was initiated by a $1 million grant from the United Way of Central Indiana. To date, the Y has raised $900,000, to complete phase one of the project. An additional $700,000 is needed for the second phase, which will include outdoor locker rooms and a splash pad.Ā
