Creation Cafe has heavenly fare

This year seems to be the year of weddings. But the best part of weddings is the pre-celebrations.

The most recent bridal shower I attended was that of my good friend Andrea. My foodie partner in crime, Adrienne, was the host so I knew this shindig was going to be fabulous. When I got my invitation I quickly glanced down to see where the festivities would take place ā€“ the Creation CafĆ©.

ā€œIā€™ve heard so much about this place,ā€ I said to myself.

The day of Andreaā€™s shower, I drove to Creation CafĆ©, located on the first floor of the historic Buggs Temple. The first thing I noticed was how open and eclectic the restaurant was.

Amongst the cheerful walls, and perfect-sized tables, I found the bridal shower party. An afternoon of laughing like hyenas and shower games could make anybody hungry. I perused the menu and realized how diverse Creation CafĆ©ā€™s menu was. The selection was pleasing to all palates, but I knew it would take me a while to settle on a meal.

I decided to order the turkey melt panini with Swiss cheese, tomato, mushrooms, pesto mayo and turkey pressed on a panini maker. I chose the homemade chips as my side item.

I expected a dainty sandwich, but instead got a large panini, whoā€™s insides were hot, had complementary flavors and cut in half for easy eating.

Other ladies at the table ordered appetizers that were shared amongst the group. The fajita quesadilla could have been a meal within itself; the portabella fries were a less-greasy and much more tasty version of fried mushrooms; and the peppy pickles (deep fried dill pickles served with a zesty horseradish dipping sauce) were surprisingly the best appetizer on the table.

Not only did I have an awesome time at the bridal shower, but the food was so good, I went back to the Creation CafƩ a week later for lunch.

This time, I ordered the Turkey in the Garden salad, mixed greens tossed with smoked turkey, roasted apples, celery, grapes and feta cheese topped with honey lime dressing.

This salad is one of the best salads Iā€™ve ever tasted. The turkey made it filling, the celery and feta gave it tang and the apples and grapes gave it a hint of sweetness. The honey lime dressing was absolutely amazing and tied all of the flavors and textures together.

Creation CafĆ©ā€™s lunch menu has lots of heavenly fare, but their dinner menu takes good food to the next level. Some of their entrees include baby back ribs; thai coconut mussles; pasta primavera; and sirloin.

They offer appetizers, salads and their signature sandwiches, wraps and burgers for dinner as well.

Lunch menu items are no more than $12.50 while dinner runs between $8 and $18.

For a palate-pleasing and relaxing lunch or dinner on the canal, head to Creation CafƩ.
