In Person Early Voting Begins in Marion County

Today marks the start of in-person early voting in Marion County. The service is available to all registered voters and there is no special paperwork needed to participate but voters are required to provide a valid government issued photo ID.

Absentee ballots are also available by mail from county election offices. A voter can obtain an application to vote absentee by mail on the web at IndianaVoters.com.

Voters can apply for an absentee ballot by mailing the application to their county clerkā€™s office by Oct. 31.

Anyone can vote early in-person, but there are some requirements to meet to vote early by mail. You also must meet at least one of these requirements:

ā€¢ You have a specific, reasonable expectation that you will be absent from the county on Election Day during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open (6 a.m. until 6 p.m.).

ā€¢ You have a disability.

ā€¢ You are at least 65 years of age.

ā€¢ You will have official election duties outside of your voting precinct.

ā€¢ You are scheduled to work at your regular place of employment during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open.

ā€¢ You will be confined due to illness or injury or you will be caring for an individual confined due to illness or injury during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open.

ā€¢ You are prevented from voting because of a religious discipline or religious holiday during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open.

ā€¢ You are a member of the military or a public safety officer.

ā€¢ You are a ā€œserious sex offenderā€ as defined in Indiana Code 35-42-4-14(a).

ā€¢ You are prevented from voting due to the unavailability of transportation to the polls.

Absentee voting by mail is a three-step process. A voter must submit an application to vote absentee; the voter needs to receive and mark an absentee ballot; then the voter must return their completed absentee ballot by mail.

You have the right to vote in Indiana if you meet all of the following criteria:

ā€¢ You are a U.S. citizen

ā€¢ You are a resident of Indiana

ā€¢ You will be at least 18 by Nov. 8

ā€¢ You are not currently in prison after being convicted of a crime

ā€¢ You have lived in the precinct where you vote for at least 30 days before the election

ā€¢ You are registered to vote

Weekday hours for early voting will be from 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. from October 12 until October 28.

Weekend hours for in person early voting will be 10:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Weekend early voting will occur on:

  • Saturday October 15 and Sunday October 16;
  • Saturday October 22 and Sunday October 23; and
  • Saturday October 29 and Sunday October 30

Beginning Monday October 31, Marion County will operate on extended hours for early voting. Early voting will be from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. from Monday, October 31 through Sunday, November 6.

On Monday, November 7, the last day to vote early, voters can vote in the Clerkā€™s Office from 8:00 A.M. until noon. The Presidential Election will be Tuesday, November 8, from 6:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M.

Parking is available in the EZ Park lot located at 355 E. Pearl Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204

located at the southwest corner of Pearl Street and New Jersey Street, directly west of the LaQuinta Inn Hotel and just north of the Indianapolis Heliport. Voters who park in the Pearl Street lot for in person early voting will not incur parking fees as a courtesy from the Marion County Clerkā€™s Office.
