I never turn down the opportunity to go to Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream & Yogurt. I mean really it’s the best ice cream ever! Only a nut would turn it down. I’m no nut!
With the wonderful weather Indy’s been having lately, ice cream has been a craving of mine. Saturday after an intense workout I somehow ended up at Handel’s…oops!
This time I didn’t get their vanilla yogurt. I am ashamed I got that my first time. Fail! I clearly was not thinking. This time I indulged in the cinnamon roll sundae. Yes, it’s just as lovely as it sounds.
The line was long, as usual, but the wait is never too long. You walk up to the window to place your order, and have the option of sitting on the benches near the eatery.
Don’t be overwhelmed by the choices – there are over 50 flavors. I think it’s awesome they give you free samples so you know what you’re getting into.
Anyhow, back to my scrumptious cinnamon roll sundae. It was a dream. Now I already love some hot cinnamon rolls as it is. Then Handel’s adds on cinnamon flavor syrup, piles of ice cream on a hot cinnamon roll and a mountain of whipped cream. I was hooked on the first bite.
My goodness. Every bite was a tingling sensation. It was a whirlwind of sugary goodness. While I was eating the sundae, my shame of indulging after the gym quickly was forgotten.
Right now that is my favorite item on the menu. I’m telling you it’s the absolute best combination. I have googly eyes just thinking about it. I can certainly agree with Handel’s being voted the best ice cream shop in Indianapolis for six consecutive years.
If you haven’t tried Handel’s, you’re missing out. Can’t wait until next time.
