- I’m sure you’re tired of Michael Vick news but
Monday, Surry County Commonwealth attorney Gerald G. Poindexter,
the prosecutor in the county where Vick has admitted to giving
money for a dog fighting operation indicted the Atlanta Falcon and
his three co-defendents on eight counts of animal cruelty
charges.
- St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson will
miss Sunday’s game against the unstoppable Dallas Cowboys with a
partial tear of his left groin. The Rams are 0-3 and will likely
continue the losing streak without Jackson.
- If I were Lovie Smith I’d bench Chicago Bears
quarterback Rex Grossman immediately. I understand loyalty but
Grossman has lost all faith in the locker room and that can only
add to the Bears’ troubles. Monday Smith said to wait until
Wednesday to see who will start Sunday’s game against the Detroit
Lions. I would give Purdue alum Kyle Orton another shot.
- Seattle Seahawk running back Shaun Alexander has
a cracked bone in his left wrist and said he will continue to play.
Obviously that’s good news for Seahawk fans but with the wear and
tear that will surely come I wonder what that wrist will look like
in 10 years.
- It’s nice to see Brett Farve having fun playing
football again. With a 3-0 start and setting record after record
with each throw, game played and touchdown, if Farve retires after
this season he will definitely be remembered as one of the best,
toughest football players – not quarterback – to ever play the
game.
- Kansas City Chief running back Larry Johnson is a
prime example why training camp and preseason games are important.
After holding out the majority of camp, Johnson signed a six-year
deal worth $45 million ($19 million guaranteed) and has since
struggled rushing for 140 yards on 50 carries and a 2.8 yards per
carry average. I understand wanting more money but once you get it
you have to perform.
