An upcoming report released jointly on by Covering Kids & Families of Indiana and the national health consumer organization Families USA will spotlight a wide range of health care and economic benefits that Indiana could experience by participating in the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion
Among the report’s key finding are:
- The number of individuals in Indiana who will gain access to health coverage as a result of the state accepting federal dollars to expand its Medicaid program.
- The number of new jobs that will be created, and the amount of increase in state economic activity.
- The amount that the state hospitals lost in 2011 in providing coverage for the uninsured, a figure that will be reduced as the Medicaid expansion provides coverage for more Indiana families.
The report will also discuss other important benefits to Indiana, such as the expected increase in state revenue and the productivity of thousands of Indiana workers.
