Construction contractors plan to close ramps at the Interstate 65 Exit 124 interchange at 71st Street for pavement repairs beginning Friday, Aug. 14 at 9 p.m. The following ramps will be closed beginning at approximately 9 p.m. on the dates below and open before 6 a.m. the next morning.
Friday, Aug. 14 – southbound I-65 to 71st Street
Saturday, Aug. 15 – 71st Street to southbound I-65
Monday, Aug. 17 – northbound I-65 to 71st Street and 71st Street to northbound I-65
Tuesday, Aug. 18 – northbound I-65 to 71st Street and 71st Street to northbound I-65
Construction schedules are subject to change. Advanced signage will be placed before the previous interchange to notify motorists of the closures and assist with alternate routes.
Recurring overnight lane restrictions should be expected as crews continue work to pave a new asphalt surface on more than 5 miles of Interstate 65 on the northwest side. The lane restrictions will repeat each night through August as the existing pavement surface is milled away and a new one-and-a-half-inch asphalt surface is paved on all I-65 lanes between I-465 and I-865 (mile markers 123 to 129).
Milestone Contractors is the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractor for the $3.2 million project, which is expected to be complete by September.
