Carol’s Daughter

Sea moss, Patchouli, cedarwood, chamomile and lemongrass. Lisa Price, a former employee of the legendary sitcom “The Cosby Show,” took her love for fragrance and turned it into a multi-million dollar company selling items for the hair and body.

“I started creating my own scents and creams because I loved to experiment — it’s always been a hobby and passion of mine,” said Price.

Price began her journey by selling her collections in local flea markets and out of her living room. Word quickly spread about products like Mango Body Butter, Honey Puddin’, Lemon and Rose Hand Cream and Shea Butter Skin Smoothie.

Her products rival high end and holistic brands and many believe Price’s products ooze love, care and wholesomeness. Even with the expansion of the brand, every single product Price creates is inspired by her life. The idea is not just to get the user clean or moisturized, but to also make the customer feel good inside and out, comforting the body and spirit.

“My products are created with love, and I think the homemade aspect really resonates with a lot of women who want something special. Every product has a story, and I think that really shines through,” said Price.

“For example, the name for Pearls, my first fine fragrance, came from the knowledge that every woman, no matter her age or race, has a story about pearls. She could have received them from her mother, husband or bought them for herself. It was something that everyone could feel special about and relate to.”

Customers have been enveloping themselves in Price’s creations since the early 90s. Carol’s Daughter, lovingly named after her mother, has even caught the attention of celebrities such as Jada Pinkett Smith (who swears by Lisa’s Hair Elixir and Hair Balm), Mary J. Blige, and Tyra Banks.

When asked about her skin care obsession, super-star singer Beyonce stated, “Carol’s Daughter moisturizers — I like to try them all.”

While Beyonce and other celebs swear by Carol’s Daughter, everyday customers stand behind the products as well.

“It’s a bit pricey, but easy to use and oils the scalp well. It’s important that it’s an all natural product because my kids use it too,” said customer Valeta Brannon. “I bought the Tui Hair Oil and I love the way it smells. It makes the hair soft, too.”

Carol’s Daughter has infiltrated stores such as Macy’s, Dillards and Sephora. It’s even featured on the Home Shopping Network. Price’s business continues to increase and is in the works to open additional stores across the country.

She’s always creating new products such as her Pearls fragrance and the re-launched Black Vanilla, a lush, evocative hair care collection, as well as additional products to the skin care line. Price hopes to one day expand her company to include the home.

“I love all of my products, but if I were trapped on a desert island, the one thing I could not do without is Hair Milk,” said Price.

Price has created beauty staples among her products made with natural ingredients, and most importantly care. Carol’s Daughter is all about pampering the mind, body and spirit. No matter how large the company gets, Price wants to keep giving customers beauty by nature.

“I’d just like to continue to be blessed enough to bring more of my favorite products to my customers, sharing with them my love and passion for fragrance,” said Price.
