A defense attorney says prosecutors were wrong to charge her client with murdering four adults and three children during an Indianapolis home invasion three years ago.
A Marion County judge heard opening arguments Monday in the trial of 31-year-old Desmond Turner.
Attorney Lorinda Youngcourt says seven family members were killed because of a neighborhood feud and that Turner had nothing to do with the slayings. She says money and jewelry were left behind, undermining prosecutors’ assertion that the slayings occurred during a robbery.
Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi acknowledges investigators have no physical evidence linking Turner to the killings, but says circumstantial evidence will prove Turner’s guilt.
