LAST CHANCE SLAM!! Qualify to represent Indianapolis at the Individual World Poetry Slam! Top two poets will fill the remaining two slots in the Slam Off to determine our fair city’s representative. If you know anyone who has been waiting all season long and just hasn’t made it out, better get a move on! This is it!

TRUTH IS from Toronto, Canada

She is the current Toronto Poetry Slam Grand Champion, 2x Toronto International Poetry Slam finalist, a 4x Canadian Festival of Spoken Word Toronto Slam Team member, a repeat participant in the Women of the World International poetry slam and performer in the 8th, 9th, and 10th “When Sisters Speak” spoken word concert. In addition to slams and a long list of feature performances, Truth Is has headlined in several conferences focused on social equity and youth motivation. She is a fiercely positive force in the slam family, and the Indianapolis Poetry Slam is proud to bring her to our stage at the Elbow Room Pub, Wednesday, May 12.

SLAM OFF! Indianapolis Poetry Slam Season Finale

Featuring the top TEN scoring poets from all of 2010! This winner take all slam will determine the one lucky poet who will represent Indianapolis at the Individual World Poetry Slam to be held in Philadelphia this October. Eight of the competitors for the SLAM OFF have already been selected. The final two will be the 1st and 2nd place poets from the Last Chance Slam on May 12.

Robbie Q. Telfer is a touring performance poet, having been a featured performer/reader in hundreds of venues across North America and Germany – most recently with the spoken word experience The Junkyard Ghost Revival. Previous work appears in the American Book Review, Octopus Magazine, cream city review and decomP magazinE, as well as several spoken word anthologies and DVDs. He was an individual finalist at the National Poetry Slam in 2007 and he co-wrote the video game Ninjatown DS. He lives in Chicago where he curates the Encyclopedia Show and is the Director of Performing Arts for Young Chicago Authors, a not-for-profit that gives creative writing opportunities and mentorship to Chicago teens. His first published collection of poetry, Spiking the Sucker Punch, is out from Write Bloody. http://www.robbieqtelfer.com/
