TOLEDO, Ohio, Sept 28, 2009 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ – Increasing health care costs and maintaining employee medical benefits is an ongoing concern for employers and has more recently taken center stage in response to tightened budgets and potential health care reform. Since 1998, Findley Davies has surveyed health benefit underwriters for the trend factors they use in their January 1st renewals. Findley Davies releases the results of these annual surveys every fall and the 2010 Health Care Trend Survey report is now available.
Some highlights from the 2010 Health Care Trend Survey include:
– Findley Davies found average annual trend rate (which measures the
change in per capita annual claims costs) slightly decreased at 11% for
PPO Medical with Rx benefits.
– Increased demand and utilization of health care services will be the
most troubling issues in health care trends over the next three years.
– Consumer-Directed Health Plan (CDHP) enrollment is likely to grow as
employers search for reduced costs and funding stability.
Additional details on these and other survey findings are available in the full report.
Findley Davies also offers twelve recommendations in response to, “What Can Employers Do to Control Health Care Costs in 2010?” From dependent eligibility audits to an on-site clinic, the recommendations cover an array of options available to suit your organization.
