Seattle-based Gen Con has signed a five-year contract extension to keep Indianapolis the host of its annual convention for game and science fiction enthusiasts through 2015.
Gen Con is in its 42nd year and has been in Indianapolis since 2003, drawing a four-day attendance of more than 28,000, many costumed as their favorite sci fi characters. It also attracts more than 300 exhibitors.
Indiana Convention & Visitors Association president Don Welsh says the expansion of the city’s convention center and planned hotel expansion were “crucial components” in the new agreement with Gen Con.
This year’s convention is scheduled Aug. 13-16.
