Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli is returning to the city for a special performance with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra as part of his North American spring tour.
Bocelli is joining the ISO for a concert at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on April 13. The singer made his ISO debut in December of 2022 with a variety of holiday music. The concert was so successful that he arranged his schedule to return to Indianapolis just 16 months later, said James Johnson, CEO of the ISO.
“It’s always a very special occasion, performing artists of his caliber — someone who has deservedly gained worldwide renown for his amazing voice and his great interpretations of both popular music and, and classical arias,” Johnson said. “And, you know, we’re glad to be considered among his favorite cities to perform in and he’s coming back so soon to play with the ISO in Indianapolis, and we hope this is a continuation of a lot more relationship.”
The upcoming concert will feature several of Bocelli’s hits throughout his long career, including songs from his solo album “Believe,” operatic performances and popular programs, Johnson said.

Known as having “one of the most recognizable voices” in the music industry, Bocelli is a world-renowned tenor. His career has spanned the last 30 years, earning him nearly 90 million record sales, sold-out arena concerts and record-breaking live streams, according to a press release.
Bocelli has performed at internationally acclaimed events such as the Olympic Games, the World Cup and the Global Citizen Festival. His talents earned him a Golden Globe and star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, seven Classical BRIT awards and seven World Music Awards.
Johnson said Bocelli is unique in how he introduces a new generation to classical music, what an orchestra is capable of and how entertaining it can be each time he performs. After having attended the concert, Johnson said he hopes more Hoosiers are inspired to learn more about the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and consider joining them at Hilbert Circle Theatre, where they perform weekly.
“We think that Andrea Bocelli brings a whole group of new fans to classical music when he performs. After all, he’s one of the few popular performers who always works with full symphony orchestra at his concerts, and I’m so appreciative of him for making that commitment to American orchestras and to the ISO in particular when he comes to town.”
