Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard joined executives from Blue Pillar Inc., an energy asset software and controls company, in announcing it has relocated its corporate headquarters from Alpharetta, Ga., to Indianapolis and expects to hire 70 new workers by 2015 at its new corporate office at 9025 River Road.Ā

“Indianapolis offers a predictable business climate, balanced budgets and low taxes. Blue Pillar’s decision to move its headquarters to Indianapolis reflects our attractiveness as a place to do business, with our stable, affordable and pro-growth economic environment,” said Ballard. “Blue Pillar’s potential for growth is enhanced because of our central location and the depth of expertise and resources that exist in Indianapolis.”

Founded in 2006 by former executives in industrial automation, power generation and enterprise software, Blue Pillar develops and deploys energy asset automation systems that enable the real-time management of distributed energy assets across an entire campus or group of customer sites. Systems are configured from a simple site survey in a matter of minutes, not months.

The company has commercially deployed energy asset management systems at some of the leading academic and medical institutions in the country, including Duke University Medical Center, Baylor University Medical Center, Tenet Healthcare and Houston’s Methodist Hospital.

“Our decision to move to Indianapolis was based on our desire to consolidate operations in a city anchored by engineering and process software development talent with a culture of entrepreneurship,” said Blue Pillar CEO Kevin Kushman. “In addition, our ability to manage multi-regional projects from a central hub is crucial. Indianapolis offers us both the talent and the location we need to expand our operations.”

The company will begin hiring workers at an average wage of more than $40 per hour over the next few months to fill software application development and business operations positions.

Based on Blue Pillar’s planned job creation and capital investment, Develop Indy provided a grant to Blue Pillar that will be used for relocation expenses. To apply for a position with Blue Pillar, applicants may send a resume and cover letter to careers@bluepillar.com.
