Kountry Kitchen Soul Food Place will be giving away free meals for Christmas this year.

Kountry Kitchen staff and volunteers have gathered to prepare and pass out hot meals for families in need at Christmas for over a decade. This year, they are continuing that “cherished community tradition rooted in love, service and togetherness,” for the 15th Annual Free Christmas Dinner Giveaway from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 25.

“The holidays can be especially difficult for families who are struggling, and no one should feel alone or hungry on Christmas Day,” Regina Marsh, Dinner Giveaway Coordinator, said in a statement. “This dinner is our way of wrapping the community in love and reminding people that they matter, they are seen, and they are supported. Serving others has always been at the heart of Kountry Kitchen, and we are honored to continue this tradition.”

Continuing this annual holiday tradition is just one of the ways Kountry Kitchen remains committed to its promise to give back to the community and continue its “journey of resilience” since its rebuild, according to a press release.

Kountry Kitchen has been praised as a “beloved” Indianapolis restaurant for more than 35 years — known for its “down-home cooking,” welcoming atmosphere and dedication to community service. The restaurant was founded in 1988 as a six-seat counter-top dinner spot and has since grown into a nationally recognized establishment that welcomes neighbors, visitors, and celebrities alike.

Kountry Kitchen’s Free Christmas Dinner Giveaway continues to “provide warmth, nourishment, and hope to individuals and families across Indianapolis — especially those facing hardship during the holiday season,” according to a press release.

Families and individuals may pick up meals from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 25 at Kountry Kitchen Soul Food Place, 1831 N. College Ave. Meals are limited to up to four per household.

Those unable to attend the giveaway in person may schedule a meal delivery by calling 317-635-6000, ext. 1.

Kountry Kitchen is also seeking volunteers to assist with meal preparation, packaging, delivery, or to provide financial support and food donations. Those who wish to volunteer or donate in support of the 15th Annual Free Christmas Dinner Giveaway are encouraged to call Regina Marsh at 317-414-9554.
