Grammy-nominated artist, Masego, brought his Fix Your Face Tour to the Murat Theatre located in downtown Indy on Sept.1.

Masego is a Jamaican American singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist famous for blending jazz, R&B, and hip-hop into a unique style he refers to as “trap house jazz.”

R&B musician Lekan opened the concert with melodies from his catalogue featuring Nigerian inspired rhythms that accompanied the artist’s vast vocal range. Lekan gave the crowd a heartfelt performance that honored his Midwest upbringing in Ohio fused with his Nigerian culture.

When Masego took the stage, his performance began with him giving an outstanding delivery of songs like “Wonderwoman” and “Limerence.”

Masego performed various hits from his catalogue along with expertly crafted melodies and tracks that highlighted his creativity.

At one point in the show, Masego crafted new tunes with his band, giving the audience an opportunity to hear music created in real time. This live performance had the audience standing on their feet for the entire act as Masego delivered a powerful display of his R&B and hip-hop inspiration.

As the night continued, Masego utilized every instrument on the stage to its fullest extent, playing the guitar, soundboard, piano and his most popular saxophone performance in songs like “Breathe” and “Tadow.”

Later in the show Masego brought Lekan back onto the stage where they performed their song “Gone.”

One of the show’s highlights was a performance of “Yamz,” a social media favorite which the audience sang along with energetically at Masego’s request.

Just as many thought the show had reached its conclusion, Masego treated the audience to an encore performance of his song “Tadow.”

Masego brought his infectious energy to downtown Indy and gave a wonderful performance that delivered on every level. The artist’s selection of hits and the creation of new tracks mid-performance seemed to leave everyone in attendance in awe well into the night.
