Society, wrong or right?

More by this author

Society makes young men and women feel like they have to be plastic, or big this, or flat that! We aren’t all the same – everyone is different from each other.

Society is tearing young people down by making them think they have to look a certain way to fit in, be accepted and beautiful. Everyone is beautiful. Beauty is within. You can’t just tell people if they don’t weigh a certain amount or if they are obese they are ugly.

That’s your twisted definition of beauty? No matter what society says we as men and women aren’t ugly. Society is ugly!

Young women and men think they have to go to extremes to look how others want them to. Some develop eating disorders. Others commit suicide. It’s just plain sickening. We as humans want to be accepted, but I don’t want to be accepted if people go to those extremes. Just because you don’t get a compliment in the hallway doesn’t mean you aren’t gorgeous, or you don’t look nice.

Think positive even though there is so much negative around you. Some kids deal with society by inflicting self-pain, such as cutting themselves or branding themselves. That is just wrong and downright sad. Kids are so hurt they are matching how they feel on the inside with the outside.

Not everyone can look the exact same way. Some people will look different than others – duh! Why does everyone want to fit in? How does it benefit you?

Everyone knows what it’s like to be on the outside looking in. So if we all know how it feels, why do we do it to others? That causes a never-ending cycle. Teenagers now feel like outsiders in their own skin. Teenagers can try to deny it all they want, but deep down we all worry a little or too much about our weight, our height, facial hair or acne.

It’s life! But just like singer Christina Aguilera said, “You Are Beautiful No Matter What They Say.” We can’t let the cruel words of others define us. We teenagers should help each other out and stand together instead of making fun of each other making problems worse.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we were all respectful to each other instead of being rude, bullying and participating in cyber bullying?

What is your purpose for hurting someone who did nothing to you? If you have to tear down others to make yourself feel better then you should go talk to a counselor, because that is no way to treat people. Plain and simple!
