“Born of hard work, created with love and served with flair!”
That’s the motto of Dee Gusto’s restaurant, conveniently located not far from downtown Indianapolis near the Indianapolis Zoo.
Once you visit Dee Gusto’s, you will quickly see what the above statement is all about.
Since opening in 2009, Dee Gusto’s has quickly become known as one of the best providers of Southern style cuisine in the city.
Patrons have returned again and again to get their hands on Dee Gusto’s trademark items such as John’s Juicy Smothered Pork Chops, Diane’s Dee-Licious Fried Chicken, homemade cornbread dressing and desserts made with real, authentic ingredients such as caramel cake, apple dumplings and peach cobbler.
The restaurant has also become popular for its generous servings, friendly service and warm, family oriented atmosphere.
In other words, it is simply impossible to leave Dee Gustos dissatisfied. If you call yourself a tough restaurant critic and hope to find something wrong with this place, you might as well forget it. Just sit down, spread out your napkin and get ready to enjoy cuisine that, dare I say, rivals some of the best homemade recipes.
Dee Gusto’s was built on the legacy left by Gustoria Vision-Diane, who learned “the art” of crafting awesome home-cooked meals in her native Mississippi, and was known for her incredible culinary skills, such as “seasoning to perfection” and the belief that “presentation is just as important as taste.”
She passed that talent to all nine of her children, and two of them, Calvin and Diane (also known as Dee Dee) opened the restaurant. Earlier, Dee Dee began by selling orders from the home of a friend so that the community could experience what she, her brother and their neighbors enjoyed as they grew up.
As the business began to take off, Dee Dee could no longer handle the increasing demand in orders without a larger facility. With plenty of encouragement from close friends and family, Dee Dee decided to pursue her dream of operating a family-style restaurant. Knowing a great idea when it was presented, her brother Calvin left his full time position to help pursue the dream.
It is fortunate for us that they decided to share what the family has long enjoyed, such as a special breakfast skillet (available with your choice of meat), biscuits and gravy, chicken and fish dinners, pork chops and side items like rich greens, mashed potatoes, yams and macaroni and cheese.
For your convenience, Dee Gusto’s provides dine-in, catering and delivery. Give them a try today and taste the love they enjoy serving.
