The Indianapolis Urban League (IUL) is looking to fill the position of president and CEO to replace Joseph Slash, who has decided to retire.
Slash is a former chief of staff and served as deputy mayor of Indianapolis under William Hudnut before his leadership role with the IUL.
A committee is completing a nationwide search for Slashās successor.
The IUL was established in 1965 as an affiliate of the National Urban League. The mission of the organization is āto assist African-Americans, other minorities and disadvantaged individuals to achieve social and economic equalityā in addition to helping children become successful, well-educated and prepared economically.
At Recorder press time, the status of the IUL search or potential candidates is unknown.
