The Indianapolis Recorder, the fourth oldest-surviving African-American newspaper is currently seeking interns to join its team of professionals this fall. Candidates must be enthusiastic, well organized, self-starters and have a willingness to learn.
Internships are available to those in all areas including editorial, sales, marketing, graphic design and human resources. Daily responsibilities could include writing stories for both online and print, taking photos, managing our social media pages, designing graphics for the newspaper, speaking with prospective sales clients and managing our daily administrative tasks. You may also be asked to work special events if needed.
Although the internship is unpaid, selected students are actively engaged in the production of our newspaper and gain hands-on experience. Those looking to receive school credit are welcomed, as well as others who are simply looking for a great learning experience. We ask that candidates be of at least junior status and pursuing a journalism or business-related degree.
Please apply by sending in a resume and a brief statement about why you would like to intern with us.
