Former Indianapolis Colts receiver Troy Walters is among 26 minority coaches invited by the NCAA to a Football Coaches Academy on May 27-29 in conjunction with the Black Coaches and Administrators convention.
Walters is now offensive coordinator and quarterbacks and receivers coach at Indiana State.
The academy is administered by the NCAA diversity and inclusion department and is designed to prepare assistant coaches for issues they may face in advancing to head coaching positions. It also provides an opportunity for networking with athletic directors, head coaches and university and conference officials.
The NCAA says of the current 119 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches, seven are black, one is Pacific Islander and one is Latino.
